1930s Floor Restoration in Amersham

Services Provided: Sanding, Staining, Varnishing, Insulation, Gap Filling

For this project in a charming 1930s house in Amersham, we undertook a comprehensive flooring renovation, delivering exceptional results that transformed the home's interior.

Bedrooms and Landing

We began by removing the old carpet from four bedrooms and the landing. Our team then sanded, repaired, and varnished the floors. In the principal bedroom, we addressed an old fireplace hearth by filling it in with floorboards sourced from another area of the house, ensuring a seamless finish.

Living Room

In the living room, we lifted the floorboards to install XXXmm Kingspan insulation. We relayed the floorboards, minimising gaps and added a new board to fill the space, ensuring a smooth and uniform surface. At the client's request, we used a white tint in the varnish to negate any yellow tones from the old pine boards, giving the room a fresh, modern look.

Garage Conversion

In the new year, we returned to sand and varnish reclaimed boards laid in the client's new garage conversion. The reclaimed wood added character and charm to the new space, and our careful sanding and varnishing brought out its natural beauty.

Hallway

Impressed with the results, the client decided to extend the renovation to the hallway. We pulled up the carpet, gap-filled using wood slithers, and then sanded and varnished the floor, creating a cohesive and polished look throughout the home.

The client was delighted with the transformation, appreciating our attention to detail and the high-quality finish in every room. This project showcases our expertise in restoring and enhancing the natural beauty of wooden floors.

“Konrad completed the sanding and finishing of our 1930s wooden floors in all the bedrooms and on the landing. He also pulled up, insulated re-laid, sanded and finished the floors in our living room. The finish has been amazing. He was professional, always on time, completed on schedule and tidied up really well. Would highly recommend.”
